In the Tate Research Lab at SUNY Geneseo, we use chemical synthesis and catalysis to advance technologies for clean energy and sustainability.

Our research includes several interdisciplinary projects. Each project is grounded in fundamental chemistry and has ties to one or more other fields of science including biochemistry, molecular biology, environmental science, and molecular biophysics.

A shared theme among our projects is the synthesis of novel chemical compounds. We make molecules! We design and prepare catalysts and enzyme models to learn about chemical mechanisms relevant to renewable fuel production, energy storage, and environmental conservation.
