Welcome from Stacey Robertson, Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs

Since coming to SUNY Geneseo in 2017, I have been overwhelmed with appreciation for the dedication that faculty and staff show toward our students. Geneseo is a remarkably generous community that truly lives into our mission as a campus where the “entire College community works together to advance knowledge and inspire students to be socially responsible and globally aware citizens who are prepared for an enriched life and success in the world”.

Teach to Engage Day is intended as an opportunity for staff and faculty in Academic Affairs to take stock of what we’re doing, celebrate the many different ways that student success and well-being are central to our shared work, and plan for the future. We have organized a series of presentations and workshops that will share information about our current students’ experiences and invite opportunities to collaborate and build. It is our hope that everyone who attends Teach to Engage Day will leave with a shared sense of excitement, knowledge about emerging initiatives across campus that support student success and engagement, and inspiration for new collaborations and partnerships.

As part of the day’s activities, we will also reserve time to start a conversation about envisioning the work of Academic Affairs as we prepare to enter the third decade of the 21st century. As we respond to rapid changes in the landscape of higher education, Teach to Engage Day offers us a valuable opportunity to pause, take stock of where we have been, and envision our future. My hope is that the generative process begun at Teach to Engage Day will inspire collaboration and conversation across Academic Affairs. In carrying out this work, we can build on Geneseo’s already strong reputation as an institution dedicated to transformational learning, community engagement, and student success. I hope that you will join us on October 15 for the inaugural Teach to Engage Day and encourage colleagues in your area to take advantage of this opportunity.
