Faculty
- Prof. Cori Winrock’s poems “Swallow as | Auto Portrait | as Silent Film” and “The Seasons Gallop Away With You” appeared in Issue 1 of The Atlas Review.
- Distinguished Teaching Professor Ronald B. Herzman delivered SUNY Geneseo’s 2013 Commencement Address – twice – on May 18.
- Prof. Gillian Paku won the Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Alumni
- Connor Burgevin (’13), a double major in English and French, won a Fulbright Award to teach English in Morocco starting next fall.
- Will Porter (’12) will begin work on a Ph.D. in English at Harvard University in fall 2013. He also won the Dante Society award for a second time.
- Nicholas Friedman was awarded a Ruth Lilly Poetry Fellowship at the Poetry Foundation in 2012. In March 2013, the New York Times’ T-Magazine published poems by Nick (“As Is”) and this year’s other four fellows. In April, National Poetry Month, Nick was interviewed on NPR’s Weekend Edition and read his poem Not the Song, but After.
Students
2012-13 saw the launch of SUNY Geneseo’s student-run online literary journal Gandy Dancer. Prof. Rachel Hall serves as faculty adviser to the journal, which invites submissions from across SUNY and is published twice yearly.
